My Dad and Circle Journal

First off the Circle Journal:
Complete and on its way.
Ummm...I forgot to take pictures of it.
I was just so worried about getting it done and out...

My dad...
I forgot about this in my last post.
I know it was Mother's Day weekend and I had a great time with my mother and grandmothers on Sunday, but I want to brag about my dad a little.
Our town is very small, like 600 people small.
They recently decided to build a new little league field.
A very big deal in a small town.
The new feild or actually feilds look great.
They don't even compare to the old ones.
My Dad is a contracter and spent a lot of nights and weekends out there building a concession stand, lending his tools and expertise.
To top it all off my brother only has one more year of Little League so we won't even be using this field that much.
Well, Saturday was the big dedication.
I mean BIG.
There was a fly over.
In LaPorte, the 'biggest' town next to my home town they always have a 'fly over' before the 4th of July parade.
Two fighter jets usually fly over.
Pretty big deal, I guess b/c LaPorte isn't that big either.
I personally hate this part of the parade b/c it is too loud.
That is not the point and I'm way off track.
The Little League dedication flyover consisted of 2 small personal planes, I thought it was kind of funny, but people were taking this very seriously.
The fields were also dedicated to Glenn Rosenbaum who is from Union Mills and played for the White Sox.
He is also like a 120 years old, but what ever, he showed up and spoke and there was even a representative from the White Sox Team with him.
Anyway, back to my dad,
The president of the LIttle League was giving a speech about everyone who had helped and thanked them.
He had named like 50 people and hadn't said my Dad's name yet.
I know my Dad didn't do this for recognition, but I was kind of getting a little upset that they didn't at least mention his name.
Well, then the pres. called my Dad out on the feild!
He took like 5 minutes just to talk about my Dad and what a great help he'd been and yadayadayada...
It was soo touching and my Dad even had to wipe away a few tears.
6 years ago, my Dad was diagnosed with Esophogeal Cancer.
He was given a 5% chance of living.
Those first 2 years were tough.
No one expected him to make it.
But he did.
It is a miracle.
Doctors can't explain it.
They told us from the beginnging there was very little hope.
We always tease him that God just didn't want him.
Anyway, 5 years ago I never even thought my Dad would be here to watch one of my brothers games let alone to help build the new Little League Field.
So, there you go.
